Episode #64: Becoming Body Joyful with Anne Poirier

After she recovered from her eating disorder, Anne Poirier reflected on the pivotal moments that led her to dieting, not feeling good enough and trying to control her body size. This insight led her to become a Certified Intuitive Eating and Body Confidence Coach, Self-Talk Trainer,  and Eating Disorder Specialist. Anne is also the author of the forthcoming book “The Body Joyful - My journey from self-loathing to self-acceptance” available October 5, 2021.

In this powerful conversation, Anne and I talked about:

  • How important it is to have another option on the table around how to be in relation with food and your body.

  • Grieving a body size you lived in in the past so you can move forward.

  • The importance of self-talk, how to recognize the different voices you have in your mind and how to create a more compassionate narrative.

  • How diet culture lures us into feeling safe by dieting, but only creates false safety when we compare and judge our bodies.

  • One of the challenges of starting an intuitive eating journey is the fear of the unknown.

  • Why community is so important in the work of intuitive eating.

Episode #62: Yoga for Eating Disorders with Jennifer Kreatsoulas

While in recovery after a second relapse with an eating disorder, Jennifer made the practices of classical yoga the foundation of her recovery.

Eating disordered patterns create separation between the body and mind. The practice of yoga allows us to safely connect back to our source of wisdom.

On the podcast, Jennifer shares:

  • How to start incorporating yoga into your life, no matter where you are in your recovery process.

  • Why you don’t have to have an eating disorder diagnosis to take a yoga for eating disorder class.

  • Why disordered eating is on a spectrum and everyone deserves support and healing.

  • How you can practice yoga in your day-to-day life.

  • What trauma-informed yoga is and why it’s necessary for eating disorder recovery.
